Guilin, eine Stadt im Nordosten der Autonomen Region [Provinz] Guangxi, war immer ein wichtiger geographischer Punkt in der Geschichte Chinas.
Seine eigentliche Berühmtheit verdankt Guilin aber der durch den tropischen Kegelkarst geprägten reizvollen Lanschaft.
Dichter und Maler preisen seit Jahrhunderten ihre Schönheit, so daß jeder Chinese davon weiß, auch wenn er niemals dort war.
Dieser Ruhm Guilins ist heute weit über die Landergrenzen hinaus gedrungen und macht Guilin zu einem der beliebtesten Reiseziele in China

Am rechten Bildrand sieht man einen Ausläufer des „Sieben Sterne Parks“ [Qixing gongyuan,
QX], siehe die Markierungen.
„Fubo shan“[
FBS], „Diecai shan“ [
DCS], „Laoren shan“ [
LRS] (weiter links im Bild) sind, wie die Berge des „Qixing gongyuan“ weitere Berge mitten in der Stadt, die sich in der Aue des Li- Flusses [Li jiang] erstreckt. Etwa in der Mitte des Bildes sieht man das „Wasserfall- Hotel“ [Da pubu jiudian,
WFH] und dahinter den „Xi shan gongyuan“ [Westberg Park,
XS].
Noch weiter nach links [also Süden] folgt der „Xiangbi shan“ [
XBS] eine Parkanlage, in der sich ein Felsen mit dem Rest einer Flußtunnelhöhle befindet. Von der Seite betrachtet, wollen die Leute in dem Felsen einen Elefanten erkennen, der seinen Rüssel in das Wasser des Li - Flusses senkt. Dieser Felsen ist zum Symbol der Stadt geworden.
Der Verlauf des Li- Flusses [
Li] wird durch das grüne Band im oberen Drittel des Bildes markiert.
Im Hintergrund sieht man eine doppelte Bergkette, mit ziemlich hohen Bergen, die sich östlich und westlich des „Taohua jiang“ [Pfirsichblüten - Fluß] entlang zieht, an derem nördlichen Ende sich die bekannte „Schilfrohrflöten- Höhle“ [Ludi yan,
LDY] befindet.

Guilin [Kweilin], a city in the Northeast of the Autonomous Region of Guangxi, was always an important locality in China’s history.
But Guilin’s real fame is due to its tropical cone karst landscape, praised by Chinese poets and painters for centuries.
In this way all Chineses are familiar with its beauty, even if they have never been there.
Today this fame is also known faraway and Guilin became a popular international travel destination too.
With the aid of our Guilin Live Webcam you can get a current glimpse of the beauty.
The camera is looking West-North-West.
On the right side of the picture you can see an edge of the “Seven Star Park” [Qixing gong yuan ,
QX ], see the signs.
“Fubo shan” [
FBS], “Diecai shan“ [
DCS], “Laoren shan” [
LRS] (further to the left of the picture) are other mountains in the middle of the city, which is nestled in the floodplain of the Li River [Li jiang]
Roughly in the middle of the picture you can see the „Waterfall Hotel” [Da pubu jiudian,
WFH] and behind it the “Xi shan gong yuan” [West Mountain Park,
XS] .
Still farther to the left [i.e. to the South] follows the “Xiangbi shan” [
XBS] a park, in which there is a mountainious rock with the rest of a river tunnel cave.
Looking from the side on to the rock, some people reckon the rock looks similar to an elephant, dipping its trunk into the water of the Li River. This rock now has become a symbol of the city.
The course of the Li River [
Li] is marked by the green belt in the upper third of the picture.
In the background there is a double chain of relatively high mountains, wich are situated on the West and East bank of the “Taohua jiang” [peach blossom - River]. At the nothern end of the chain you can find the famous “Reed Flute Cave” [Ludi Yan,
LDY].
